December Already?!

Wow. I can't believe its almost Christmas. In fact it is down right shocking. It seems just days ago we were in Texas for thanksgiving. Our days between have been wonderful, and busy. As for what's keeping us busy,  I don't have the time/energy to weave everything together lovingly so I'll just do bullet points...

 - Lucy is now 6 months. She continues to be a joy-filled baby with an easy smile for most anyone. It was particularly surprising then at her 6 month doctors appointment when she burst into a fit of tears just at the sight of our beloved pediatrician. I actually felt bad for the guy, there are very few people she doesn't have a smile for, let alone tears. As soon as he left the room she stopped crying. Anyway she is measuring in the 90th percentile for weight and 97 for height. (hooray for tall girls ! ;) )

- We flew to Texas for Thanksgiving and it was... splendiferous. (clearly not a word). We deep fried a turkey with my older brother, who is quite skilled at the grill/cooking. We enjoyed trips to the Y for family swimming, some black Friday shopping, Texas BBQ, and even a date courtesy of my mom's babysitting. All in all a very relaxing time was had by all. Liam especially enjoyed playing with many of the old toys that were kept from when my brothers and I were little (fisher price record player, matchbox cars, bouncy horse, etc)

- Lucy said her first word, "da da" special for her Dad's birthday. She also,  just as of this afternoon, began crawling. This evening she pulled her self up to standing in her crib. Yikes. She adores her brother and chases him around the house in her walker.

- We have a our challenges too...Liam continues to toy with us on potty training and Lucy still wakes more than once a night. We are looking forward to Christmas, though Liam doesn't seem to like the idea of Santa much. He was too scared to sit with Santa for a picture this year and often recounts to us that he doesn't want Santa to come "no Santa here, no Santa at nana pop-pop's house, no Santa in the north pole. He does find Santa more appealing when we talk about the cookies Santa gets. Liam then goes on to explain that he will eat a plate full of Santa's cookies and he will leave him spaghetti and melon instead. Happily, he seems to really like his advent calendar and enjoy learning the Christmas story. So, regardless of his feelings about Santa he seems to be getting the more important messages of the season. He asks lots of questions as he seeks to understand and I have already learned my lesson about being under prepared to answer them. (ex. what is god?) My answers have clearly been inadequate.
